I. Introduction
In demanding mine road operations, tire performance directly determines fleet uptime and operating costs. This case study examines how DM Fleet in Lima, Peru, achieved outstanding results with Forlander 12.00R24 FR818 radial truck tires in lima on its mine haul routes. For fleets seeking reliable tires in lima, the results demonstrate measurable cost savings under severe conditions.
II. Client Background
Headquartered in Lima, DM Fleet has long been engaged in road transport of ore and supplies for mining operations. Mine roads are dominated by gravel, mud and continuous slopes, with highly abrasive surfaces and sharp rocks scattered along the routes, placing extreme demands on wear resistance, cut resistance and load capacity. For DM Fleet, tires represent one of the largest consumable costs in its operation.
III. Previous Challenges
Before switching to Forlander, DM Fleet was plagued by persistent tire problems: inconsistent tire lifespan across brands, leading to frequent replacements and increased vehicle downtime; mine gravel frequently cutting treads and casings, resulting in high scrap rates and almost no retread potential; and high overall per-tire costs, directly affecting fleet profitability.
IV. The 12.00R24 Mining Tires in Lima
To address the mine operating conditions, Forlander recommended and supplied the 12.00R24 FR818 radial truck tire to DM Fleet. FR818 features an ultra-wear-resistant compound and a deep tread design; the wide tread ensures even ground-contact pressure distribution and reduces irregular wear; the reinforced casing and bead structure maintain stability under full load and rough conditions; and the block-type tread pattern balances traction and heat dissipation, making it especially suitable for mine and mixed-service roads. From a fleet management perspective, the strong casing also provides the foundation for subsequent retreading, a key factor in reducing total cost of ownership.
V. Performance Results & Technical Parameters
In actual operation on mine roads, FR818 delivered results beyond expectations: actual mileage of 50,000–60,000 km under severe mine road conditions; sound casing, retreadable 1–2 times, further reducing per-kilometre tire cost; and even tread wear with no abnormal shoulder wear, with driving stability and safety maintained throughout.

VI. Client Feedback
“FR818 has far exceeded our expectations on mine roads. The actual lifespan of 50,000 to 60,000 kilometres, together with the casing value that can be retreaded once or twice, has noticeably reduced our tire costs. Reliable and durable, this is exactly what our fleet needs.”
— Fleet Manager, DM Fleet, Lima, Peru
VII. Future Cooperation
Based on the outstanding performance of FR818, DM Fleet plans to roll out FR818 progressively across more vehicles to standardize tire management; establish a regular tracking mechanism with Forlander on tire usage data to scientifically plan replacement and retreading cycles; and continue deepening cooperation on new vehicle models and mine-specific tire sizes.
